Purpose:
The purpose
of the ISTH Nurses Forum is to promote, support, and sustain sharing and
adoption of, evidence-based practice; thereby facilitating knowledge translation
to direct patient care.
This
will be provided globally through mentorship to nurses in their role to teach,
coach, individualize, and intervene in applying evidence based practice to meet
the unique needs of patients with disorders of hemostasis.
In
addition, the Nurses Forum will support systematic evaluation and dissemination
of practical and actionable standardized or targeted interventions for this
unique patient population that is provided by nurses.
Objectives:
Share
knowledge, experience, and practice standards or guidelines to standardize and
improve practical and actionable knowledge translation in the discipline of
nursing as it pertains to disorders of haemostasis. This knowledge sharing is critical as nurses
are often isolated within their institutions resulting in widespread
duplication of strategy development and limited evaluation of same.
Goals:
- To
share and promote evidence-based findings and practice through knowledge
translation, standardization and systematic evaluation in clinical practice
settings.
- To
explore the mechanisms by which nurses engage in education, patient management
or supportive care interventions which can employ a collaborative research
framework in order to better promote the significance and generalizability of
initiatives.
- To
inform about therapeutic options available to ensure treatment is consistent
with patient needs and preferences
- To
improve communication between nurses and all healthcare professionals through
the forum and within the ISTH community at large
- To
disseminate information on guidelines, research projects, and education
materials for patients/providers and
healthcare professionals
- To
increase nurses participation in ISTH as a Society and attendance at ISTH congresses
- To
achieve and maintain an established ISTH nurses forum that is effective and
efficient
- To
ensure openness, transparency and fairness in execution of its duties, mission
and goals
