The Scientific and Standardization Committee oversees the work of the
Scientific Subcommittees of the ISTH.
The SSC Officers make up part of the SSC Executive Committee, which is a
standing committee of the SSC. The SSC
Chairman reports to the ISTH Council.
The SSC Executive Committee provides executive direction for the
Subcommittees ongoing activities. The
Subcommittees work on objectives set forth for them by the SSC Executive
Committee and report at least annually regarding their progress toward these
objectives. They may also advise the SSC
about important tasks appropriate to the mission of the SSC and may propose new
or revised objectives for their activities, subject to approval by the SSC. The Executive Committee may establish and
discontinue Subcommittees as needed.
SSC Executive Officers serve two-year terms and are elected from current or past Subcommittee Chairmen and
Co-Chairmen. All interested individuals can
become involved in the work of the SSC. ISTH
members can be appointed to serve as Chairman or Co-Chairman of a
Subcommittee.
