About Us
The
International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) is the global
community of dedicated scientists and physicians specializing in bleeding and clotting disorders.
We
are dedicated to transformative scientific discoveries and clinical practices,
the development of young professionals and the education of physicians,
scientists and allied health professionals wherever they may live.
What
inspires us, drives us and connects us is the translation of science to
clinical practice that will improve the lives of millions of patients
worldwide.
We initiate and promote
education
and outreach initiatives, research
activities, scientific
meetings, peer-reviewed
publications, expert
committees and the development of standards allowing a common language and approach to basic and clinical science all over the world.
We have over 3,500 members in
more than 84 countries.
Why Are We Here?
Understanding the complex processes behind thrombosis
and haemostasis can have far-reaching consequences and is central to many areas of science and medicine. It can reduce death and disability, for instance, by helping prevent
heart attacks, treating haemophilia and saving trauma patients’ lives.
