Biographies

Robert Reid

Dr Robert Reid is professor of Ob/Gyn and Chair, Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Queen’s University in Kingston.Dr Reid has had a busy university career with an emphasis on education and clinical research. He has published over 200 peer reviewed articles and book chapters, made over 500 presentations at national and international meetings, and been a participant in 50 visiting professorships at universities throughout North America.  He has received numerous research and teaching awards and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada have modelled a research training text after a course that Dr Reid and colleagues developed and taught to Canadian residents in Obstetrics and Gynecology for 20 years. In 2000 Dr Reid developed at Queen’s University Canada’s first and only fellowship training program in contraception and family planning (The ‘Contraception Advice, Research, and Education’ (CARE) Fellowship) which continues to graduate subspecialists in this important field.

Dr Reid is a past president of Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada (SOGC) and the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS). Dr Reid has been a recipient of the president’s awards from SOGC, CFAS, and the Association of Professionals in Obstetrics and Gynecology for his contributions to women’s health. In 2013 he received an honourary fellowship “ad eundem” from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the United Kingdom.

Nigel S. Key

Dr. Nigel Key is the Harold R. Roberts Distinguished Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), USA. He is Chief of the Section of Hematology and Director of the Harold R. Roberts Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center at UNC. He was formerly Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation, University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis. Dr. Key graduated in medical science from the University of St Andrews, St Andrews, Scotland, and received his MB ChB from the University of Manchester, in the UK. After moving to the USA in 1988, Dr. Key received his postdoctoral training at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Key is currently serving as the Immediate Past Chairman of the ISTH Council.
