The ISTH SSC 2016 abstracts are available on USB sticks which will be distributed in your conference bag that can be picked up at Registration. Abstracts will also be available via the ISTH Meeting App and as an online supplement (only) to JTH.


A help desk for participants who have booked their accommodation in advance via the c’ accommodation meetings company is located in the Registration Area on Level 3. The staff at this counter will also help you to find and book rooms, if required.


The 'International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis' (or) '62nd Annual SSC (Scientific and Standardization Committee) Meeting of the ISTH (International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis)' is accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide the following CME activity for medical specialists. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS),

The '62nd Annual SSC (Scientific and Standardization Committee) Meeting of the ISTH (International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis)' is designated for a maximum of (or 'for up to') 9 hours of European external CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Information on the process to convert EACCME credit to AMA credit can be found at www.ama-assn.or.g/go/internationalcme

Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognized by the UEMS-EACCME for ECMEC credits are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

ATM/Cash Machines

An ATM is available on level zero (Berlioz foyer).

Banks & Foreign Exchange Offices

Only major banks exchange foreign currency. Credit Cards are widely accepted. It is advisable to have some Euros on hand for times when credit cards are not accepted.

Car Parking

Follow signs for Montpellier – Centre Historique – Le Corum, where you can park underground. There are limited spaces.

Certificate of Attendance

Certificates of attendance will be emailed to each attendee following the end of the meeting.

Charging Stations

Mobile charging stations are provided throughout the conference venue for attendees to charge their mobile devices.


Montpellier has a Mediterranean climate. Summers are usually hot and dry. The average temperature in May is 72 degrees F (22 degrees C) for a high and 54.5 degrees F (12.5 degrees C) for a low.

Coffee Breaks

Complimentary coffee and tea will be served in the Exhibition Hall located on Level 0. Coffee breaks are scheduled daily from May 25 - 28, 2016. Please refer to the program details for timings.

Conference Capture

Educational and Plenary lectures of ISTH SSC 2016 will be captured and be available on the ISTH Academy ( for meeting attendees and ISTH members in the weeks after the meeting.

Credit Cards

All major credit cards are accepted in the majority of hotels, restaurants and shops.


The Euro (EUR) is the unit of currency.

Cyber Zone

Located on Level 0 with the Exhibition Hall, it will be for the exclusive use of meeting attendees.

Attendees will receive your delegate bag at the Registration area. Please note that no replacements for lost bags are available.

220 – 240 volts. France uses two of the European standard electrical socket types: The “Type C” Europlug and the “Type E” and “Type F” Schuko. An adapter is necessary if your appliances don’t already have these types of shapes to match the socket.

Embargo Policy

The media, companies and institutions issuing news releases, and others are required to abide by the embargo policies governing the meeting. The abstracts selected for presentation at SSC 2016 will be available online prior to the meeting. These abstracts will also be available on a USB stick on site at the meeting.

The information contained in the abstracts is embargoed until the abstracts are available online. Coverage of information that goes beyond that which is contained in the (e.g., additional analysis, commentary, or updated information from those individuals and companies involved in the study) is embargoed according to the following criteria:

  • For oral presentations: the embargo time is the start time of the session in which the presentation is being made.
  • For poster presentations: the embargo lifts when the poster session containing the poster opens for viewing in the morning (i.e., when the poster hall opens that day).

Insurance and Liability

It is recommended that participants obtain adequate cover for travel, health and accident insurance before they depart from their countries. ISTH and Colloquium as organizers cannot accept responsibility for personal injuries, or loss of, or damage to private property belonging to the meeting participants and accompanying persons.

ISTH Secretariat

The ISTH Secretariat is located in Sully 3 of the Conference Center. It is open during the same hours as the registration desks (see “Registration Desk” for opening hours).

Italian Pharmaceutical Companies

MCI Italia has been assigned to collect – on behalf of ISTH SSC – all applications from Italian pharmaceutical companies and file them with the appropriate Italian Health Ministry officials.

The official language of the meeting is English. There is no simultaneous translation service provided.


Complimentary lunch boxes will be served in the Exhibition Area in Level 0. Please refer to the program details for timings. Delegates will receive lunch vouchers for each day.

Mobile Telephones

As a courtesy to speakers and other participants, all mobile phones and pagers must be switched to silent mode when attending sessions or symposia. We kindly ask that you DO NOT record / film any sessions with your mobile telephone. Those who violate this policy may be asked to leave the room.

Name Badges

Participants will receive their name badges when collecting their meeting materials on site. You are required to wear your name badge during all meeting events. Please note that admission to scientific sessions and the exhibition is restricted to only participants wearing their badges.

Photo Policy

Attendance at, or participation in, any ISTH meeting constitutes consent to the use and distribution by the ISTH of the attendee’s image or voice for informational, publicity, promotional and/or reporting purposes in print or electronic communications media.

Photographs, video recording, film or cellphone capture by participants and other attendees during any portion of the SSC 2016 – including the poster and exhibit floors - is NOT ALLOWED without special prior written permission of the ISTH.

Photographs of copyrighted PowerPoint or other slides are for personal use only and are not to be reproduced or distributed. DO NOT photograph any such images that are labeled as confidential and/or proprietary.

Poster Session

Posters will be presented during the entire duration of the meeting and are accessible at the same times as the exhibition opening hours. The official poster session and networking event will take place on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, from 19:00 – 21:00 where presenters will be available at their posters. The poster area is located in Antigone 2 and Joffre 1 – 3. Poster sessions ends on Friday, May 27 at 16:45 at which time all posters need to be removed.

Poster Printing and Delivery Service

Poster presenters who have opted to use the official ISTH SSC 2016 Poster Printing and Delivery Service may collect their printed posters at the Poster Pick Up Desk in the Registration Area on Level 3 during the following times:

Speakers are asked to upload their formatted presentations (PowerPoint presentations) at the Speaker Ready Room at least 2 hours before their session or the day before for an early morning presentation. When going to restaurants you should tip waiters/waitresses €1 to €3 or 5% of the bill at more expensive restaurants. For taxi drives you should tip 10% of your fare. It is normal to tip €1 to €3 to staff in hotels (bellhop, maid, room service waiters, doormen, etc.). Most services are customarily tipped if the service is good.
