The ISTH Education Committee has awarded a Reach-the-World Fellowship to Mohmmadreza Bordbar, M.D., of Iran. The Reach-the-World Fellowship program seeks to promote knowledge and expertise in medical care, laboratory methods and research for individuals from developing countries. As part of the program, the Society provides fellows with financial support for travel, accommodation and living expenses for a period of up to four months while they receive advanced training from renowned host institutions.

Bordbar is currently a pediatric hematologist working as a faculty member at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Shiraz, Iran. With support from the ISTH Reach-the-World Fellowship, Bordbar will have the opportunity to work at Leiden University Medical Center in the Netherlands. For three months, Bordbar will learn the best practices in research methodology from Frits Rosendaal, M.D., Ph.D, the Editor of the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH).

"As a pediatric hematologist and researcher, I need to improve my skills in designing and conducting clinical trials in the field of hemostasis and thrombosis," Bordbar said. "The training will have a great impact on my attitude and performance in doing research programs. I’m the principal investigator of many local and international clinical trials. Therefore, being trained by a noble scientist like Professor Rosendall will help me, for sure, to conduct more robust investigations."
