Biographies

Armando Tripodi

Prof. Tripodi is an established investigator at "Angelo Bianchi Bonomi” Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center, IRCCS Cà Granda Maggiore Hospital and a full professor of biochemistry at the Faculty of Medicine, Humanitas University in Milan, Italy. His research is mainly focused on elucidation of coagulation mechanisms, laboratory diagnosis of coagulation disorders, standardization and quality control of coagulation tests, and laboratory control of anticoagulant treatment. He is a former Co-Chairman of the ISTH SSC Subcommittee on Control of Anticoagulation, former President of the Italian Federation of Thrombosis Centers and President of the of the Italian Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis (SISET). He has authored 430 journal articles, book chapters and guidelines.  

Nicolas Intagliata

Dr. Intagliata joined the faculty of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology as an assistant professor of medicine at University of Virginia, Charlottesville Virginia in 2014 and completed a Masters of Science in clinical research as well. He works clinically in general hepatology and liver transplantation.  His current research is aimed at understanding the mechanisms and impact of coagulopathy in decompensated cirrhosis. The goal of this research is to identify predictive factors that disrupt the balance of coagulation in cirrhosis, which may result in either thrombosis or bleeding. He has written several reviews and editorials in the field of coagulation and cirrhosis and was co-director and a member of the scientific committee of the 6th  International Conference on Coagulopathy in Liver Disease in 2015, the 7th International Conference on Coagulopathy in Liver Disease in 2017, and more recently the 8th conference in 2019 in the Netherlands.
