Speaker Bios:

Chris Gardiner
Chris Gardiner is a research fellow at the Haemostasis Research Unit at University College London. He holds a PhD in Haematology from University College London and an MSc in Immunology from King’s College London.  Dr. Gardiner’s has worked in diagnostic haematology for over 30 years and his research interests include the antiphospholipid syndrome, obstetric haemostasis and extracellular vesicles. He has published over 50 research paper and co-authored the world’s first text book dedicated to extracellular vesicles. He is a co-chair of the ISTH Vascular Biology SSC, scientific secretary of the British Society for Thrombosis and Haemostasis and an executive board member of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles. 

Michael Paidas
Dr. Paidas is Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences, Yale School of Medicine; Vice Chair, Obstetrics; Director, Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship; Director of the Yale Women and Children’s Center for Blood Disorders & Preeclampsia Advancement, and Co- Director of the National Hemophilia Foundation‐Baxter Clinical Fellowship at Yale.

A recipient of the Headmaster’s Scholarship, Dr. Paidas received his undergraduate degree from Fairfield University, cum laude. Subsequently, Dr. Paidas graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, PA and a fellowship in maternal fetal medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, NY. After working at Tufts University School of Medicine and New York University, Dr. Paidas joined the Yale faculty in 2002. Dr. Paidas is the Recipient of the David J. Leffell, MD Prize for Clinical Excellence at Yale in 2010 and Tufts Medical Alumni Association, Dean's Award.

Dr. Paidas is included in the top 1% physician by specialty in the nation according to the US News and World Report. Dr. Paidas serves on the Medical Advisory Board of the National Hemophilia Foundation and the Medical Advisory Board of the Preeclampsia Foundation. Dr. Paidas is co‐chair of the Thrombosis and Hemostasis Societies of North America 2016 and 2018 Summits, as well as past board of Director Member and Current Workshop Committee Co‐Chair of the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society.

Rezan Abdul-Kadir
Rezan A Kadir is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at the Royal Free Hospital in London, UK. She is also a Specialist Consultant in women with bleeding disorders at the hospital, and an Honorary Reader with the University College School of Medicine. Dr Kadir has set up the first multi-disciplinary to provide comprehensive care for women in families with bleeding disorders.  This clinic is also renowned nationally and internationally for providing training and leading clinical and laboratory projects in this field.

Dr Kadir is a co-author of Inherited Bleeding Disorders in Women, published in 2009. She has given presentations at numerous international congresses, and has authored or co-authored over a hundred peer-reviewed publications on fetal medicine and bleeding disorders in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr Kadir has written national and international guidelines for management of obstetrics and gynecological problems in women with bleeding disorders, and has acted as a reviewer for several journals, including Haemophilia, JTH, STH, IJOG. O&G, JOG and others. Dr Kadir is currently the Chair Women's Issues in Thrombosis and Hemostasis Subcommittee of SSC of ISTH and the ‘Women Bleed Too’ board of the Haemophilia Society, UK.
