International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Inc.
Press Registration

The ISTH 2015 meeting welcomes the interest of the media covering thrombotic and bleeding disorders and is happy to provide assistance to journalists who plan to attend. The ISTH media registration and press policies provide editors, reporters and health and medical writers with information about the Society's rules and regulations regarding coverage of the Congress. Individuals with any questions regarding the Society's press policies or media registration may contact Louise Bannon.

Media Registration and Eligibility

Media registration for ISTH 2015 is now open. To register as a member of the press, please email Louise Bannon with your official request and your press credentials. Your request will be reviewed, and then you will be provided with appropriate registration information.

Media credentials are reserved exclusively for working members of the editorial media, including print, broadcast, radio or online. In order to maintain an environment conducive for quality professional interactions, media credentials are only available to media that are related to the industry, or those that cover another relevant topic.

We kindly ask all registered media to wear the Society’s media badge at all times while at the Congress. All scientific sessions, education sessions, abstract sessions, and special lectures at the annual meeting are open to the media.

For your reference, the following representatives are not eligible for press registration.

  • Companies or organizations producing publications, videos and/or other electronic media intended for internal use, marketing, advertising, financial analysis or public relations purposes.
  • Sales, marketing, advertising or public relations personnel
  • Representatives from medical education companies
  • Financial analysts

ISTH 2015 Embargo Policy

Companies issuing press releases and announcements as well as media contacts and others are required to abide by a strict embargo policy governing the Society’s Congress. Abstracts selected for presentation at ISTH 2015 are embargoed until they are available online. Coverage of information that goes beyond the abstract, such as additional analysis, commentary or updated information, is embargoed according to the following:

  • For oral presentations: the embargo time is the start time of the session in which the presentation is being made, or the beginning of the ISTH 2015 press briefing containing the research, whichever comes first.
  • For poster presentations: the embargo lifts when the poster session containing the poster opens for viewing or at the beginning of the ISTH 2015 press briefing containing the research, whichever comes first.

Media On-Site at ISTH 2015

The following rules apply only to registered media. All other meeting attendees are required to adhere to the general Meeting Rules and Regulations.

  • Take photos (non-flash only) and audio record in the poster hall and in the session rooms.
  • Video record in public areas of the convention center, but only when accompanied by an ISTH staff member. Media must receive prior approval and arrange for an escort by visiting the on-site Press Room.

Members of the media are prohibited from the following activities:

  • Taking flash photos during sessions
  • Taking photos of slide presentations
  • Taking photos, videotaping, or audio recording in the exhibit hall
  • Video recording in any session room or in the poster or exhibit halls

Disclaimer: Photos of copyrighted material reprinted without the prior consent of the study author/presenter is strictly prohibited.

Registered media may reserve an interview room only for the purposes of editorial news coverage, and requests can be made through the press working room staff. Use of this room is by appointment only and is subject to availability.

Media interviews are also allowed to take place within the confines of a company's booth, as long as the rules of the ISTH exhibit hall are observed, including the photography policy.

Press Room and Press Briefings

To use the press room, media credentials must be presented. Details on this year’s press room will be available later this year.

Public relations and company representatives may enter the room to drop off materials to share with the media; however, we ask that they do not stay. We ask all company representatives to be respectful of reporters’ needs and deadlines.

The ISTH press briefing schedule and list of presentation topics will be made available at least 30 days before the Congress.

All media are required to follow the media policy in its entirety. Approved individuals who abuse their media privileges or who misrepresent themselves in obtaining their media passes may risk having their credentials revoked, and their names banned from attending the SSC and ISTH meetings in future years.
