The ISTH has awarded a Reach-the-World Fellowship to Nyan Lin Aung of Myanmar. Currently a pathologist at the National Health Laboratory in Yangon, Myanmar, Aung will serve an 11-week fellowship at the Katharine Dormandy Haemophilia Centre and Thrombosis Unit of the Royal Free Hospital in London, UK.

"I knew that further extension in knowledge and training was mandatory to provide accurate diagnosis of the whole spectrum of thrombotic and bleeding disorders," Aung said. "And, I believe that the fellowship would provide me with so much needed skills and techniques in the diagnosis of these disorders."

The skills Aung learns will help him learn new techniques that he can bring back and share with his colleagues in his home country. "Working in a world class laboratory and learning from the well-known thrombosis and hemostasis specialists at the Royal free hospital is an unbelievable opportunity for every clinician, especially for those from the developing countries," he said. "I can’t wait to apply all the knowledge and experiences learnt from this fellowship back in my country."
