ISTH SSC 2016 Sets Record Attendance!

Thanks to the attendance and contributions of more than 2,050 medical professionals, the ISTH SSC 2016 meeting was by far the largest gathering for a stand-alone SSC meeting.

The ISTH was pleased to offer another terrific opportunity for the formation of collaborations and partnerships that lead to progress in the field of thrombosis and hemostasis. Attendees were able to participate in terrific SSC and education sessions in addition to corporate presentations. One highlight of the event was the release of the APEX study, which was simultaneously published in the New England Journal of Medicine

Selected webcasts of presentations will be available to ISTH members and all SSC 2016 attendees from the ISTH Academy in the coming weeks. Watch your email for more information.

You can view the abstracts here and the eposters here or here. Visit for more information.

ISTH Announces Decision to Hold Annual Congress Starting in 2020

In light of the resounding success of ISTH SSC 2016, the Council of the ISTH announced its strategic decision to hold the Society's global congress annually starting in 2020.

The new annual ISTH congresses will fully incorporate highly valued ISTH SSC components, recognizing the value of the SSC’s work and its highly important applications, making them more accessible to the wider community. The congress format will also be shorter and more compact, establishing a contemporary meeting structure.

To ensure that the new congress format includes all SSC aspects valued by attendees and members, the ISTH invites you to complete an important SSC meeting feedback survey, which will be distributed soon.

Urge Your Institution to Join the World Thrombosis Day Campaign - We Have Resources to Help!

Did you know that one in four deaths worldwide are related to thrombosis? You can make a difference by encouraging your institution, university or hospital to join the World Thrombosis Day (WTD) campaign, a year-long awareness movement recognized each year on October 13.

This year, the new 2016 overarching platform for the campaign is Know Thrombosis, which emphasizes the need for healthcare professionals and patients to become educated about the condition. In addition, the complimentary theme of Keep Life Flowing employs a universal analogy to make thrombosis feel relevant and relatable.

The 2016 campaign offers new and refreshed educational and awareness-building resources, all downloadable for partners. You can get started by joining the movement as an official partner; it’s free and simple to sign up!
