Secure Host Site Now for an ISTH Training Fellowship and Apply by September 15 ! 


Apply by September 15 to be considered for an ISTH Training Fellowship. These fellowships are intended to provide support for short-term training opportunities for early career professionals from high-income economy countries who wish to study at host institutes known for their expertise in thrombosis and hemostasis. You must secure a host site before applying for a fellowship.

A minimum of 10 fellowships will be awarded each year. These grants will provide fellows with financial support for travel, accommodation and living expenses for a fellowship period of up to two months. The application period is open now and ends September 15.

The ISTH Awards Yap Yee Yee, MD, with Reach-the-World Fellowship

The ISTH is pleased to announce that ISTH Member Yap Yee Yee, MD, was awarded a Reach-the-World Fellowship. Yap is a hematology trainee at Ampang Hospital in Ampang, Malaysia. As part of her fellowship, she will train for four months at the Perth Blood Institute in Perth, Australia, where she will learn advanced techniques in clinical research of hematological disorders.

"The fellowship is very beneficial towards my hematology sub-specialty training because of the exposure to the clinical research and the field of hemostasis and thrombosis at the Perth Blood institute," Yap said. "I will be fortunate to be able to do the training with professor Ross Baker and other very experienced clinical hematologists."

Participate in Survey of the Management of Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation Among Pediatric Health Care Practitioners

The Pediatric/Neonatal SSC Subcommittee of the ISTH is conducting an international survey regarding the management of disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) in children. The results will be used to identify challenges in the investigation and management of DIC in pediatric and neonatal intensive care, and to design future studies. Research ethics approval has been obtained.

The survey is intended for physicians who work in direct contact with the patient. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. If you are interrupted, you will be able to save your responses and return later to complete the survey. Click here to participate by September 15 

By completing the survey, respondents will be giving implied informed consent. Anonymity is guaranteed for all participants, and responses will remain confidential. Any reports or publications resulting from this survey will not identify you or your hospital. Thank you for your participation.

ISTH Members Contribute to Breakthrough Study Published in NEJM  


ISTH Members Peter Lenting, Claudine Caron, Jenny Goudemand and Sophie Susen contributed to an important new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), "Von Willebrand Factor Multimers during Transcatheter Aortic-Valve Replacement." 

"The results of this study represent a major breakthrough, as it may simplify the intervention, thereby making the procedure available for many more patients, while at the same time reducing health care costs," said Lenting, an ISTH Council member.
