ISTH Member Saskia Middeldorp Delivers Ham-Wasserman Lecture

On December 3, ISTH member Saskia Middledorp delivered the Ham-Wasserman Lecture at the American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting. The prestigious honor of delivering the lecture is traditionally given to an individual from outside the United States who has made major contributions to field of hematology. 

Middeldorp, a professor at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, gave a presentation titled, "Inherited Thrombophilia: How Does a Double-Edged Sword Fit into Clinical Practice?" In her lecture, she discussed the history of how thrombophilia came into clinical practice as well as genetic research and the association of inherited thrombophilia with reproductive issues in both men and women.
