Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) Editors Pieter Rietsma and Frits Rosendaal are highlighting three clinical studies that will be included in the March issue. Read their message below:

"A special feature in the April issue of JTH is an article that has systematically examined whether ‘Hematology’ journals adhere to reporting guidelines for the clinical studies that they publish. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case, but we would like to assure our readers that JTH is quite strict in this regard. Recombinant factor VIII is notoriously difficult to produce and this has a negative effect on the cost of goods of this replacement drug. An original article describes the expression and characterization of a codon-optimized factor VIII, and perhaps this work will facilitate production of the protein. Protein disulphide isomerase (PDI) has been implicated in the formation of blood clots. An In Focus article, as always accompanied by an illuminating commentary, examines how PDI activity can be targeted by peptides in an attempt to develop thrombosis preventing drugs."
