Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) Editors Pieter Rietsma and Frits Rosendaal are highlighting one forum article and two original articles in the June issue preview. From the editors:

One of the June Issue's highlights is a Forum article that proposes a novel therapeutic approach for those on anticoagulation who also engage in contact sports. The approach takes advantage of the relatively short half-life and immediate onset of action of direct anticoagulants.

Two original articles are also part of the June spotlight. The first original article falls in the In Focus category and is accompanied by a commentary that provides an additional perspective on the importance of the findings. It describes a population pharmacokinetics model of rVIII-single chain and concludes that administration twice or thrice weekly is acceptable for a satisfactory therapeutic effect. The second article goes beyond the traditional bounds of our research field. It examines the association between PAI-1 levels and telomere length, and reports data that support the notion of PAI-1 being linked to biological aging.
