Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) Editors Pieter Rietsma and Frits Rosendaal are highlighting one forum article and two original articles in the August issue preview. From the editors:

State-of-the-Art contributions to the 2017 ISTH Congress in Berlin will appear gradually in the remaining 2017 issues of JTH. This month, look for an SOA article that summarizes the chronic complications of venous thromboembolism, of which there are unfortunately many. In the cardiovascular medicine section, an interesting article reports, based on a more than 10-year prospective follow-up study, that a polymorphism in the C-reactive protein gene predicts stroke in atrial fibrillation. Also noteworthy is a study showing that recombinant human factor XIII prophylaxis is safe and effective in children suffering from factor XIII-A deficiency.
