As a companion to the Clinical Core Curriculum, the ISTH is in the process of developing a curriculum for laboratory specialists in thrombosis and hemostasis who oversee the diagnostic testing. The purpose of both of these curricula is to promote harmonization in the training and competencies for both clinical and laboratory settings internationally.

An international working group, led by Thomas Renn√© has created a draft of the competencies required of a laboratory specialist in T&H, and we invite you to help build the curriculum by providing your feedback on the draft competencies in this online survey. Your participation will take approximately 15 minutes.

We acknowledge that while there will be regional variations in facilities, access to laboratory testing and clinical management options, but the curriculum can be used internationally to inform a set of minimum knowledge required for a laboratory professional to be considered a specialist in the field of thrombosis and hemostasis.

I am hoping/hopeful that the laboratory specialist curriculum will include instrutors/consultants that are true bench laboratorians, and not just pathologists, researchers and clinicians.
