The ISTH/SSC Secondary Coagulation Standard has been developed to promote harmonization in the calibration of commercial reference plasmas for over 20 coagulation-related analytes. See here

Calibration of the ISTH/SSC Secondary Coagulation Standard for methods related to VWF binding to GPIb is underway. Join a collaborative study to assign values for the conventional ristocetin cofactor method (VWF:RCo) and the recombinant GPIb-binding methods - both ristocetin-dependent (VWF:GPIbR) or using a gain-of-function mutant GPIb (VWF:GPIbM). The study involves four independent assays comparing the Secondary Coagulation Standard (Lots #4 and #5) relative to the WHO 6th IS Factor VIII/von Willebrand factor, plasma (07/316). View the study protocol.

If you would like to participate please contact Craig Thelwell at the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control, UK (
