Volunteer for the ISTH Diversity and Inclusion Task Force

ISTH members are invited to apply to serve on the ISTH Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force and support the Society’s commitment to create an inclusive culture that eliminates biases and changes the landscape of professionals participating in ISTH activities.

Members of the Task Force will contribute to the development of initiatives resulting in a more welcoming, affirming and engaging environment within the Society.

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force seeks members who possess one or both of the following:

  • Prior leadership and/or professional experience with organization-wide diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
  • An interest in or lived experience with diversity, equity and inclusion issues.

If you are an active and current member of the Society, you are eligible, and we would appreciate your involvement. The ISTH Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force is recruiting to fill six openings and encourages applications that reflect the environment we seek to create. ISTH members from diverse backgrounds and underrepresented regions are especially encouraged to apply.

Initial Charge and Time Commitment
The charge outlined below represents only the very initial stages of work to be completed before July 2020. As that initial work is developed, a detailed and robust charge will be developed for subsequent stages.

  • Analyze existing ISTH data for purposes of determining the current state of ISTH diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Outline potential new data to collect for future analysis
  • Define an initial scope of work in which ISTH will focus on gender aspects of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Develop an ISTH policy statement on diversity, equity and inclusion for Council consideration

Members of the Task Force are expected to engage in 3-4 calls prior to July 2020. Terms are flexible with the option for members to discontinue service after July 2020 and for the Co-Chairs to recruit and onboard new members to best serve the needs and objectives of the Task Force as the work progresses beyond the initial phase.
