Regional Training Center - Malaysia

The Regional Training Center (RTC) program is funded by the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), which enables long-term partnerships between emerging centers in economically developing countries and mentoring centers in the high-income countries.

To improve the development and advance of the emerging center in research, education and patient care in the field of Thrombosis and Hemostasis, enabling this center to act as a reference center in the region.

Through this program, the Ampang Hospital in Ampang, Malaysia is an emerging center collaborating with the Perth Blood Institute in Perth, Australia as a mentor center. The six-years program will include training professionals involved in the Thrombosis and Hemostasis field, enabling the exchange of students and teachers among the institutions involved, develop educational courses, internships and partnerships in research projects.

The program has three levels of two years of collaboration, progress and advancement. To advance to the next level, the center in training must send an annual report to ISTH, detailing activities and programs in progress. After successfully completing the 6-years’ program, the developing center will be classified by the ISTH as a "Regional Training Center", being able to act as a mentor for other emerging centers and region.
